A colleague and I surreptitiously nibbled the peppers straight from Zanthoxylum simulans (the Sichuan Pepper Tree) on a nursery visit last week and our mouths were embarrassingly completely numb for what seemed like hours 🤣🤣
Whoops!!! I don't find it lasts that long, but do plants vary? I am now going to have to compare my trees! Best not try an electric daisy flower in public! I understand the salivation can be rather embarrassing
My kids won’t normally eat kale BUT kale roasted for 8- 10 minutes with half a teaspoon of five spice, half a teaspoon of brown sugar, a pinch of salt, a drizzle of olive and a small handful of sesame seeds is devoured! Some wonderful chilli oils recipes also have Sichuan pepper corns - high up my to do list to try.
Been there. I’m never biting a whole seed again, i couldn’t feel my lips or the tip of my tongue
It's interesting how people react differently - variable levels of sensitivity?
