Fun read. Seems we have similar ideas but I‘m not so successful.

Thanks david, I have plenty of failures too - the ups and downs of gardening

Those allotments look lovely.

Wrt the teasel, if it won't grow in a pot you could always cut some of the heads down and then tie them up outside your window for the birds to feed on.

I enjoyed Beaulieu this year, all show gardens had a positively more naturalistic look about them. I didn't realise you were going to be there, otherwise I would have listened to the talk and said "hi". (To be honest I rarely check the speakers' schedule as my kids just want to see the falconer's display, the playground and go on the monorail so I only ever manage a whistletour of the show gardens and plant nursery stands).

I was there on Fri and it was quite hot but not too busy. I found time to slip out and wander round the abbey grounds inc. the kitchen garden

Love this! I’ve pinched the north facing garden inspiration for a patch at the back of our house that I’ve been struggling with!

The north facing garden was full of interest showing that shady aspects have so much potential

Thank you for sharing the show garden Aspects of Nature. Those walls are stunning. Yesterday I piled up some logs in the back corner of my garden in an attempt at a stumpery (I word I hadn't heard of until a few months ago) but I certainly aspire to walls as beautiful as these. Thank you for the great post.

Glad you found the post useful. The ‘stumpery’ sounds wonderful - great for all those predatory beetles!
