Water, more water and congratulations
Another named storm has lead to more water in our already flooded fields and to keep record of all of this I've bought a weather station. And read on to find out why congratulations are in order
Last week I wrote about Storm Ciaran and now Storm Debi has just hit. That’s four named storms since the end of September ……
According to the Met Office: “The UK had over a third more rain than average with 171.5mm (40% more than average) in what was provisionally the joint-sixth wettest October on record. England had its eighth wettest on record with 147.2mm of rain, which is 63% more than average.”
The ground was already saturated when Storm Debi blew in, dumping a lot of rain over Ireland before moving across the north of England and Scotland. I caught the start of Debi while staying in the Borders over the weekend and it was a wet and windy drive back home to Somerset.
It had been dry at home but Debi caught up with me and delivered 10.3 mm of rain to my garden over a 24-hour period. And how do I know that? Well, last week I bought a weather station.
