Record keeping and climate change
My phone camera is one of my most important tools as it enables me to keep records of what's happening in the garden and farm and to be part of an exciting citizen science project plus some news ...
Its been a weird autumn, with lots of warmth and sunshine and now rain. And I think plants are as confused as we are.
One of my concerns at the moment is the lack of colour on my oak trees. Most are stubbornly green. With a warm spring and a late autumn, their growth period has been extended and it’s not good. Deciduous trees need to drop their leaves and enter dormancy for as few months before springing back into life. And I should be clearing up leaves.
This is where my camera is so useful. I take loads of photos on my phone and try to photograph the trees from the same vantage points so I can look back and compare year to year.
As you can see from the following photographs, the leaves really should be turning colour and falling by now.
