With more than 20,000 species of bees worldwide, these vital pollinators inhabit every continent except Antarctica, thriving in ecosystems that support insect-pollinated plants.

North America is home to around 4,000 species, while Australia has more than 1,660 species, with estimates suggesting the final number could be closer to 2,000. Despite its small size, the United Kingdom hosts around 270 species of wild bees, including 24 bumblebee species. Across mainland Europe, there are more than 1,965 species.
