A confused autumn
What a week of weather! From sunny and mild to torrential rain and floods .... and don't mention the slugs......
Its been a weird month that’s flipped from warm and sunny to rain, more rain and floods. It’s been really challenging for gardeners and wildlife alike. As I write, my garden is still full of flowers - the salvias, cannas, cosmos, tithonia and nasturtiums are looking fab. The bananas and gingers are still growing. During the sunny spells, many pollinators appear and we even have the odd butterfly.
The grass in our fields continues to grow – in fact we could even take a silage cut if the ground wasn’t quite so waterlogged.
Some of the outdoor tomato plants that I thought were destined to be hit by blight are into a new phase of growth and have fresh trusses of fruits while the green tomatoes I harvested last month ago have ripened in the kitchen.
